Nigel Mossman

I have delivered applications and custom projects using both Java and .net technology stacks, based on most of the big name paid for and open source database platforms. Even today, I find the lessons learned coding in c, c++,Informix 4gl, COBOL, Delphi, VB and Java pay handsome dividends when devising solutions for web or back systems or just talking around issues with code and test engineers.

As I have tended to work for small and medium sized companies I have had to wear multiple hats in most roles. At some point or other I have contributed work as an architect, developer, tester, business analyst, business strategist and project/programme manager. In recent years I have run teams varying in size from 5 to over 60 colleagues.

My recent career has revolved around Agile project management. Modern business requires innovative working software delivered to maximise business advantage. Agile can be a shock for companies used to large requirements documents and big up front design and micro management of teams. Agile requires the business and project team to think in a different way; a strong focus on trust, communication, collaboration, quality, good engineering practices , efficient design, knowledge building and sharing, innovation and delivery to production are essential.

I have worked with XP, SCRUM and DSDM – I have passed the Atern foundation exam, I am also a DSDM Consortium certified Agile Project Leader Practitioner. For good measure I am also Prince2 qualified. "

Nigel Mossman founded Standard Data Systems in 2004 with the objective of providing Agile Development Management and Agile Project Management services to companies based in London, the Thames Valley and M3 Corridor.

"My career in the IT industry started with Atari UK where I combined UK consumer relations with the day to day running of the parts operation. Subsequent roles found me working for various accounting software houses initially in support and consultancy roles and then moving into software development as a programmer, senior AP, Team Leader, Development Manager then more senior roles with Viviance new Education and London Bridge Group.
